Skin Types
Our skin is a complex, dynamic organ made up of several layers, each with its own important role. The skin protects us from external influences, regulates temperature, and helps retain moisture. There are five main skin types—normal, dry, oily, combination, and sensitive—each with unique characteristics and needs. Skin type is largely determined by genetics, but it can change over time due to age, hormones, environment, and lifestyle. Beneath the surface, the skin is constantly renewing itself: new cells form in the deepest layer and gradually move outward, where they eventually shed. Healthy skin acts as a barrier, keeping out bacteria and toxins while holding in water and nutrients. Understanding your skin type and the processes happening within it is the first step to choosing the right care and keeping your skin balanced, resilient, and glowing.
